Park expects strong showing

CHRISTMAS savings, gift voucher and pre-paid gift card firm Park Group is expecting to post ‘positive’ annual results after a good year’s trading.
The AIM-listed Birkenhead-based company said in a trading update for the year to March that it had not seen any adverse impact from the bad weather last year – the peak delivery period for its Christmas hampers business.
“All parts of the company have performed well and successfully overcame the extreme adverse weather conditions in December, our peak delivery period,” the firm said.
Park’s corporate voucher and prepaid card sales remained strong too with client numbers on the rise.
The launch last May of a new product – a prepaid gitcard, called flexecash, was hailed as an ‘important development’, as it has grown quickly and exceeded the board’s expectations.
Park said flexecash cards had aready been sold to around 300, with the number of retailers accepting it, currently standing at 24, expected to increase significantly in the run up to Christmas.
It said Christmas savings orders for 2011 are ahead by 5% compared to the same time last year, with more customers saving online.
The firm said the Irish business, acquired last October, had been successfully integrated and would give it “an excellent platform” from which to broaden its savings range for Christmas by launching its vouchers into the Republic of Ireland.
