Garage operator invests £650,000

AN independent petrol station operator has reopened its flagship site after completing a seven-month refurbishment programme.

Roked Filling Stations has invested £650,000 to double the size of its Cambridge Grove Self Serve Station on Wellington Road in Eccles, Greater Manchester. NatWest commercial banking provided funding for the project.

The makeover involved increasing the number of pumps from eight to 12, installing a new carwash and the construction of a new two-storey building that will house a large 1,300 sq ft Best One convenience store and provide office accommodation for Roked.

Following the revamp, Cambridge Grove will remain a BP-branded station, as Roked has a sole supplier arrangement with the company. It will open 24 hours a day and is expected to sell more than 3.5 million litres of fuel a year.
The business is owned by the Roked family which also operates a garage in Middleton.

Farhana Roked said: “The old premises and forecourt had become cramped and started to look a little dated. The new Cambridge Grove has been designed to offer a faster service to customers complimented by an enhanced range of products from our larger store. We are delighted to have finally opened after seven months of hard work and would like to thank local residents and customers for their support during this period.”

NatWest relationship director Mark Johnson said: “The new Cambridge Grove looks very impressive. Adam and Farhana have successfully operated this business for several years and we are more than happy to support their plans.”
