Bidders named for One St Peter’s Square

THE construction firms shortlisted to handle the £50m redevelopment of Elisabeth House in Manchester’s St Peter’s Square have been named.

BAM Construction, Carillion Building and Kier Regional are in the running to build the 14-storey One St Peter’s Square which is being developed by Manchester-based Argent, and joint venture partner, the Greater Manchester Property Venture Fund (GMPVF).

The 273,000 sq ft building will incorporate office floorplates of up to 22,500 sq ft. It will include a mix of uses at ground floor level, with cultural space for public exhibitions, as well as a double height reception.

Development manager, James Nicholson, said: “We are very pleased to be making this announcement because it will enable us to commence the next stage of the development at One St Peter’s Square. If we are successful in securing a pre-let, we could be on site by the end of the year.

“We have no doubt that this will be an iconic and inspiring addition to the stunning buildings, which are already a part of Manchester’s civic quarter. We look forward to continuing to work alongside the city council and other landowners to transform the current site into an unparalleled piece of public realm incorporating One St Peter’s Square, the newly refurbished Town Hall, Library and St Peter’s Square itself.”

GVA and Savills are joint agents for the scheme.
