Cloverleaf tucks in to NE opportunity

CLOVERLEAF Restaurants, which was bought by national brewer Greene King for £56m in January, is opening a new site in the North East.

The expansion is part of a £25m investment plan by Greene King to grow Blackburn-based Cloverleaf, which specialises in large family-focused restaurant/pubs providing good quality home cooked food.

The Leeds office of planning and urban design consultancy Turley Associates secured planning permission for the new Sunderland restaurant, which is at Doxford International Business Park, which employs around 8,000 people.

Gary Douglas, director of Cloverleaf Restaurants said: “This is an important strategic location for us as part of our future plans in the North East, and provides a long awaited amenity facility for those who live and work close by.”

Jennifer Winyard, planner at Turley added: “Cloverleaf Restaurants is a rapidly expanding food driven concept specialising in family friendly and informal dining close to large business parks and residential areas.  The Sunderland restaurant is its 3th site and it has many more in the pipeline.”
