Great Bear signs key Broadway 21 lease

GREAT Bear distribution has taken a 10-year lease at Valad Property Group;s new 185,000sq ft distribution building at Broadway 21 in Oldham.
Described as one of the largest industrial lettings in the North West so far the year, Great Bear will pay in the region of £740,000 a year over the life of the lease.
The privately-owned company, which has an annual turnover of £85m has recently won a major contract for Stockport-based personal care and household products group PZ Cussons.
Other high-profile clients of Great Bear include Sainsbury, Umbro and Premier Foods.
Valad’s Andrew Slipper, said “Valad has a reputation for close customer care, but this letting involved working with Great Bear during their bid for the Cussons contract. It is therefore all the more rewarding as a collaborative venture with this excellent company”.
Broadway 21 is part of Oldham Broadway Business Park which lies next to junction 21 of the M60.
Julien Kenny-Levick, director, logistics and industrial at Colliers CRE Manchester, who advised on the letting, said: “This deal demonstrates that there is life in the big shed market and presenting a quality product in the right location will always generate occupier interest.
“This letting may well be the start of a number of key transactions to occur by the end of the year.”
