Christie markets St Helens hotel

PROPERTY agent and adviser Christie & Co has been appointed to sell the 84-bedroom Park Inn in St Helens.

Interest in the hotel, which is the only full-service facility in the town, is already positive.

The sale mandate follows the appointment of administrators Ernst & Young to the
Channel Island-based fund, W.G. Mitchell (Guernsey) No. 9 Limited, which owned the hotel.

Martin Davis, Christie & Co’s director and head of the Manchester office said:
“Since the property opened in 1992, it has been well established as the only full-service hotel in the centre of St. Helens.

“It continues to benefit from substantial local corporate demand and has attracted significant interest.”

Mr Davis said although trading conditions across the sector remain challenging, the market is stabilising and confidence is slowly returning.

He added: “Property values have bottomed out and as 2009 progresses, vendors are finally conceding that the price adjustment is a long term change and are bringing their hotels to the market.

“Those investors and operators who are able to secure funding and act decisively in the coming months will be able to grow and gain valuable market share.”
