£2.5m to encourage enterprise in schools

THE Northwest Development Agency (NWDA) is investing more than £2m to encourage youngsters into enterprise.

It is spending £2.5m in creating 13 further education enterprise hubs in a move to introduce young people to the concept of enterprise in schools.

The project will last for three years and the hubs are expected to encourage 480 adults to undertake work based training and 15,000under 16s to develop enterprise skills outside of statutory education.

NWDA chief executive Steven Broomhead said:“Young people require inspiration from an early age – the hubs project will ensure enterprise is seen as an exciting career option, to raise aspirations of children, young people and adults, helping to develop a can do culture.

“The agency has a strong commitment to promoting enterprise across the region, boosting business start ups and regional productivity.”
