Peel signs option agreement at Kent port

LIVERPOOL law firm Brabners Chaffe Street has advised Peel Ports on an option agreement with wind turbine manufacturer Vestas on the lease of a 70 hectare site at the Port of Sheerness in Kent.

The site is the chosen base for a potential new manufacturing and assembly facility for the V164-7.0 MW offshore wind turbine unveiled by Vestas in March this year.

The new wind turbine will be the world’s biggest offshore wind turbine and is said to be taller than London’s Gherkin office block, with blades that will sweep an area bigger than Wembley Stadium.

Brabners Chaffe Street’s property partner Sandy Gill said: “We are delighted to have worked on this transaction with our client, Peel Ports.

“Renewable energy is a key growth sector in our economy and this is a significant deal which brings important investment into the UK and could create a substantial number of jobs.”
