Talk Talk sees growth in the cloud

TALK Talk’s business arm is predicting further growth as more companies switch their IT functions to ‘cloud computing’.

Paul Lawton, managing director of Tallk Talk Business, which has its base in Warrington was speaking after Talk Talk released its first annual results as an independent company since its demerger from Carphone Warehouse.

The figures, which include the much larger consumer business, showed a 5% hike in sales to £1.8bn, while profits rose from £11m to £57m.

Revenue for the B2B arm was £329m, up marginally on £327m the previous year.
Talk Talk Business is a major employer in the North West. It has more than 600 people at a technology centre in Irlam Salford. Warrington, which is the heart of the B2B operation, employs 800 people. A further 300 work in a residential customer service centre in Preston.

Mr Lawton said much had been achieved during a “milestone” year as customers had been integrated onto a single billing systems and customer service levels were improved.

“I think we are well-placed to grow – businesses are looking for faster broadband and we are a disruptive player on price in this sector, particularly as cloud-based services take off.

“I believe we can grow revenues by selling more services to our existing customers and attracting new customers too.”

Talk Talk Business has around 150,000 customers, compared with four million domestic users.
