JD pounces for Peter Werth

JD Sports Fashion has acquired more brands after acquiring the parent company of fashion labels Peter Werth and Pink Soda.

Bury-based JD agreed the deal to buy London-based Brand Acquisitions for an undisclosed sum from administrators FRP Advisory.

Brand Acquisitions, which has a shop in Liverpool and 34 House of Fraser concessions, called in administrators on May 13.

JD’s chairman Peter Cowgill said: “We are delighted to have saved another iconic British fashion brand from extinction, following on from the Fenchurch and Duffer of St George acquisitions.”

Administrator Jason Baker said: “The strength of fashion brands Peter Werth and Pink Soda attracted a high level of interest in the business. JD Sports represented the best outcome for creditors, as well as the business and its stakeholders. The sale saves 68 jobs in Peter Werth concessions across the UK.”
