Order boost for trailer maker

CARTWRIGHT, the family-owned North West manufacturer of haulage trailers has won a major order from retailer Superdrug.

The company, based in Broadheath near Altrincham, will deliver 100 units to the high street chain, in a deal worth well over £1m.

Cartwright, which had a turnover of more than £60m last year, expects 2009 to be a year for record sales. It is already hiring new staff and offering maximum overtime to service the order book.

Director Steven Cartwright, said: “We are obviously very pleased with this order that Superdrug has placed with us. They are a new customer for us. Having such a major high street name choose us for their distribution operation shows our appeal.”

The equipment will be used to deliver stock to Superdrug’s 911 stores and 229 Savers stores.

The new trailers will be based at the retailer’s distribution centres in Yorkshire and Bedfordshire.
