Appointments: Former journalist joins Weber Shandwick, and more…

WEBER Shandwick North has appointed a former journalist as senior account manager to support its corporate department and lead an agency news team as head of Media North.
Sarah Park has more than seven years’ experience as a regional news and feature journalist writing for The Chester Evening Leader and The Northern Echo Newspaper.
During her time on newspapers she was awarded Young Journalist of Year in the North West and Feature Writer of the Year in the North West. She has also worked as a freelance travel writer for national and regional newspapers, including the Manchester Evening News and The Independent.
Before joining Weber Shandwick she worked for Mason Media, a Liverpool public relations agency led by former Daily Mail news editor, Nick Mason.
As well as supporting the corporate and consumer teams Sarah will create a “news hub” and advise clients on how to work more closely with the media.

RECRUITMENT agency Acorn has appointed two new staff at its Preston branch.
Samantha Nieuwenhuizen, 30, takes on the role of recruitment consultant, while Maciej Gorczyca, 27, has been appointed as account co-ordinator. Both will specialise in the industrial sector.
Samantha, originally from Cheshire, has five years’ experience at senior consultant level. Polish-born Maciej moved to Preston four-and-a-half years ago and has two years’ experience working in the recruitment industry.
Acorn’s regional manager, Christian Ash, said: “We’re delighted to have both Samantha and Maciej on board. We have seen an increase in business in the last few months, which in today’s market is very encouraging.”
Established in 1992, Acorn now has 35 branches across the UK. Recent acquisitions include Advance Personnel, Exxell Track Safe Telecom and Concept Staffing.
