Johnson Service agrees £10m contract with news group

JOHNSON Service Group, the Cheshire-based dry-cleaning to facilities management company, has won a £10m contract with one of the country’s largest regional newspaper publishers.

Its SGP Property & Facilities Management arm has agreed a three-year deal with Johnston Press, which has around 270 titles including the Lancashire Evening Post.

Johnson, which is based near Runcorn, said it will work at 185 locations and take on 130 Johnston Press staff who work in security, catering, cleaning and buildings maintenance.

SGP’s managing director Kevin Elliott said: “We continue to strengthen our presence across the corporate, retail, hospitality, healthcare and education sectors.

“SGP combines management expertise with an extensive service partner network to offer clients an alternative approach to the self delivery model that is prevalent across the facilities management industry. We assist clients through the outsourcing process to help them make the right choices for their organisation, not the choice that suits us.”
