Vphase powers on with social housing deal

CHESHIRE energy saving pioneer VPhase has been appointed to a national procurement consortium for the social housing sector.

It is the second piece of good news for the AIM-listed Capenhurst-based company in a week – last Friday it revealed it was the only non US company to win a share of a £40m innovation competition organised by GE.

The latest fillip will see the firm’s subsidiary VPhase Smart Energy supply the VPhase VX1 product to the Procurement for Housing (PfH) consortium.

The consortium generates savings by harnessing the collective purchasing power of housing organisations allowing them to reinvest resources in front-line services as a result of this reduction in procurement costs.

The framework agreement provides VPhase with access to over 700 members of PfH covering 3.2 million homes in the social housing sector across the UK, as the top accredited voltage optimisation technology.
The agreement runs for four years from May 2011 to April 2015.

Chief executive Rick Smith said: “I am delighted to secure this framework as a key step in the company’s drive in the social housing arena, an area where VPhase is attracting significant interest.

“Out of the 15 companies providing the supply of photovoltaic, solar thermal and voltage optimisers, VPhase is ranked as the second most economically advantageous.”

Vphase has developed a voltage management system that reduces and regulates incoming power and could save around 10% of a household’s energy consumption.
