Forrest picks up BVCA award

PRESTON-based social housing contractor Forrest has picked up an award for best environmental, social and governance management at the British Venture Capital Association’s Portfolio Awards last night.
The awards celebrate the positive impact that private equity-based businesses have on the UK’s economy and recognise the achievements of their management teams.
The company received investment from the Manchester office of LDC in July 2007 and has since broadened both its range of services and its territories. In the year to August 31, 2010 the firm had earnings of £6m on sales which increased by 11% to £52.3m.
Lee McCarren, CEO of Forrest, said: “This award highlights the progress we’re making in improving both the physical environment of the developments that we refurbish and maintain, and the green benefits we deliver to our partners and their tenants, including greater energy efficiency.
“Our focus on environmental improvement has seen us make significant gains in our market – both in terms of share of sales and technological advancements – and is a credit to the vision of our management team and committed employees, as well as the continued support of LDC.”
XLN Telecom also received an award for mid-market private equity team of the year. It was sold by Manchester-based private equity firm Palatine in an £80m deal in April to ECI Partners.
