Eazyfone turnover hits £36m

MOBILE phone recycler Eazyfone – ranked number five in the Sunday Times Fast Track 100 list – has seen turnover grow 260% to £36.2m and posted record profits.

The Macclesfield-based company, which trades as Envirofone, saw turnover grow massively from £10.05m in 2008, while profits after interest and tax leaped to almost £3m for the year to the end of August 2009 (2008: loss of £309,000).

Chief executive Nick Brown said: “Over the course of 2008/09, the company has achieved exceptional growth that’s propelled Eazyfone and its brand names into a strong financial and market position. This accolade is testament to the pioneering vision of our entire management team.”

The company, which was the highest ranking North West company in the Fast Track list published on Sunday, buys up to 200,000 old mobile phones each month, which are then sold on to customers in mainland Europe and the Far East.

Mr Brown added: “We’ve set out an ambitious expansion strategy for 2009/10 that will enable us to significantly grow our position as the leading value recycling brand for consumers and business partners in the handheld devices sector. We’re committed to setting new standards in operational and system efficiencies across the company.”
