Millions worth of advisory work up for grabs at Sellafield

BOSSES at Sellafield have begun the process of developing its new Infrastructure Strategic Alliance.
The firm has issued a tender for partners to help deliver a “long-term programme of strategic investment and change” at the site.
The winning bidders will oversee the design, construction, commissioning and handover of major infrastructure projects over a 15-year period. This includes the procurement of architectural, engineering, construction and technical services, but not any operations or plant maintenance work.
A new framework document issued by the company states that Sellafield’s chosen partners will deliver an agreed masterplan over a 15-year contract period – split into three five-year blocks. Sellafield bosses envisage working with between five and seven partners through the alliance.
They will oversee projects worth between £1m and £50m, with task works completed by alliance partners expected to be worth around £10m a year, but the value of the work procured could range between £500m and £1.1bn during the course of the 15-year deal.
The type of projects the partners will be expected to oversee include:- steam generation and distribution; electricity generation and on-site distribution; water supply; compressed air distribution; bulk chemical storage and distribution; and civils work including roads, bridges and car parks; building systems and emergency management systems.
Firms wishing to bid to join the framework, which will begin its remit in April next year, need to use Sellafield’s online CTM System. Bids need to be completed by August 12.
