Receivers called in at Yesteryear Pub Co

A WIGAN-based pub operator has gone into administrative receivership for the second time in three years.

Brewing giant Heineken UK appointed receivers from the Preston office of Begbies Traynor to Tony Callaghan’s Yesteryear Pub Company on December 2.

The business trades under a range of brands such as The Indiependence, The George, Jazz Bar, Number Fifteen, Little Fifteen and Maloney’s at locations across the North West.

It emerged from a previous period of insolvency in 2006 when managing director Tony Callaghan bought back some of the assets.

On that occasion the brewer Scottish & Newcastle – which was bought by Heineken last year – was the creditor which called in the receivers.

Joint administrative receivers Steven Williams and David Acland could not be reached for comment.
