BoE chief King to speak at IoD dinner

THE Governor of the Bank of England, Sir Mervyn King, will make a keynote speech on the economy at the Institute of Directors’ North West annual dinner.

The event, held in Liverpool for the first time, takes place on October 18 at St George’s Hall.

Sir Mervyn chairs the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee, which sets interest rates, and several other members of the MPC are expected to attend the event.

Chair of the Liverpool branch of the IoD, Lorraine Dodd, commented: “This is a must-attend dinner. The recent regeneration of the city is once again making Liverpool an important hub for the future of the UK economy, and attracting speakers of the calibre of Sir Mervyn King to the city emphasises this.”
