Ainscough completes biggest land deal to date

AINSCOUGH Strategic Land, the Leigh-based firm owned by Martin Ainscough, has completed its biggest deal to date after buying a 180-acre site in Durham.

The firm said that the Hagg House Farm  site is a greenbelt release site that has been identified by Durham County Council as having potential for sustainable economic regeneration. If the council designates the site for housing, it could make a substantial contribution towards helping the area hit its required housing target over the next 20 years.

Paul Martin, director at Ainscough Strategic Land (ASL), said: “Our expertise lies in developing long term master plans for thriving, sustainable communities and this site would, if brought forward by Durham County Council, give us the opportunity to do just that.

“We are delighted to have secured the Hagg House Farm site and look forward to working closely with Durham County Council to maximise its contribution to the future growth of the region.

The acquisition brings the total amount of land held by ASL up to more than 600 acres. Martin said the firm is continuing to look for investment deals.

“The current climate is bringing a lot of opportunities to the table and Durham stood out because of its potential and the positive attitude of the council,” he said.
