Kitbag scores first rugby club deal

SPORTS retailer Kitbag has entered the rugby market for the first time with a 10-year multi-million pound retail deal with Leicester Tigers.

The Middleton company, part of listed home shopping group Findel, has strong expertise in football, and works with a host of leading clubs.

Its latest partnership has seen it become the official retail partner for Leicester Tigers, managing all aspects of the club’s retail business,  including a new club store and online store.

An overhaul and redevelopment of the stadium store at Welford Road is planned which will see it doubling in size from 1,000 sq ft to 2,000 sq ft.

The new store will open before the start of the new season and feature new and exclusive product ranges, with improved ordering services and an innovative multi-channel shopping experience for supporters.

Kitbag’s new chief executive, Andy Anson, said: “Tigers is a fantastic club with a loyal fan base on which we will build and grow its retail business.

We are looking forward to offering fans a retail environment and product offering that reflects the passion and ambition that encompasses this great rugby club.”

David Clayton, managing director of Leicester Tigers said: “The investment that Kitbag is making in our business promises to really set us apart from other teams in terms of our retail offer.

“Kitbag’s unrivalled experience in retail, combined with the company’s passion and commitment to our brand, will ensure our supporters are provided with a first class service.”
