Recession ’causes more stress’
NORTH West employees are more stressed in the workplace and are struggling to balance their work and private lives because of the recession, according to research from Yorkshire Bank.
One in five workers in the region believe the downturn has made them feel more stressed at work, while more than half of those questioned feel it has made it more difficult to achieve a balance between work and their private lives.
And 4% also claim to be working up to 11 hours more a week than they did before the recession hit.
Brian Colquhoun, regional director for Yorkshire Bank in the North West, said: “The recession has certainly had an impact on our working lives. Many businesses have had to work extremely hard to ensure their survival and keep their workforce intact.”
The research for Yorkshire Bank was carried out online by Opinion Matters/Tickbox.net from a “nationally representative” sample of 788 UK self-employed professionals and managers.
