Network operator plugs into new cash source

THE North West Fund for Venture Capital has invested £250,000 in Cheshire-based IT & telecoms firm Rock Networks.

Rock Networks is a new company established in Warrington by managing director Stewart DeRoma, technical director Dan Cunliffe and chairman Julian Jackson. The team worked together for a previous venture-backed business and, having played supporting roles in building two businesses through to successful exits, decided to launch their own venture.

The investment will support the company’s start-up costs.

Richard Young, fund manager of the North West Fund for Venture Capital, said: “We are delighted to become investors in Rock Networks.

“Stewart and his team are widely respected in their industry and have demonstrated a track record in building successful businesses. Unified communications offers major benefits in terms of comprehensive support and better value for money. We are confident that Rock Networks will play an important role in this emerging market.”

North West Fund for Venture Capital is managed by Manchester-based EV.

Stewart DeRoma, managing director of Rock Networks, said: “We look forward to building a profitable, solid and well-respected business. We are ambitious, and want businesses to rely on us for their IT, and fixed & mobile integration strategy.”
