Lancashire’s jobs boost
GRANTS of up to £6,000 are being made available to organisations that help people find work in Lancashire.

GRANTS of up to £6,000 are being made available to organisations that help people find work in Lancashire.

Lancashire County Council is awarding the money to groups that help people progress through training and skills.

It has provided financial support to 40 organisations which have helped train around 400 people under its ‘Grants for Growth 2’ scheme.

The council made further funding available following the success of the original Grants for Growth programme which supported over 240 projects.

Councillor Albert Atkinson, deputy leader of the council, said: “Through this programme, grants of up to £6,000 will be available to community organisations working at a local level to benefit disadvantaged people from all backgrounds and faiths to progress them on a journey towards work.

“We want to support projects that enable people to access training and create opportunities to gain the skills needed to move on to paid employment, further training or volunteering.

“We know that it is often our local, grass roots organisations that make a great deal of difference to people’s lives and we provided this extra funding so that more community groups can now come forward to help people get back to work, especially at such a difficult economic time.”
