The chief executive of the Burnley-based Original Factory Shop (Tofs), Tony Page, has stepped down from his role.

According to the website Draper Alistair McGeorge will assume his responsibilities on an interim basis with immediate effect for the discount discount department store chain.

Former Matalan chief executive and New Look chairman McGeorge joined the firm as chairman in September and will lead the process to recruit a successor.

Page joined the firm in 2013 and has previously held roles including managing director at Lloyds Pharmacy from February 2011 to January 2012, commercial and marketing director at Woolworths from September 2006 to January 2009 and 11 years at Asda, latterly as commercial director for general merchandise.

A company spokesman said during his time at Tofs, he modernised the business, launched the new “Tofs” brand and built a strong management team.

McGeorge thanked Page for his contribution and wished him well for the future.

He said the team has undertaken a thorough review of the strategy since he joined last year, which demonstrated that “the opportunity for Tofs is even greater than ever”.
