Manchester pays its respects: 6pm vigil to be held in Albert Square tonight

Tonight, Manchester will stand united in a message of solidarity, sympathy and support to all those affected by last night’s Arena attack.

There will be a vigil of peace, starting at 6pm in Albert Square, when faith, council and civic leaders will stand side by side – resolute in remembering all those whose lives have been changed forever by last night’s bomb.

In a show of Manchester’s community spirit, addresses will include the Bishop of Manchester, David Walker; members of Greater Manchester Police; poet Tony Walsh reading This is the Place followed by a minute’s silence.

Roads around Albert Square will be closed from 5pm and are expected to re-open around 7pm.
