A  popular venue is set to host a day of events this weekend, including artisan fairs, exhibitions to explore and a photography workshop.

Victoria Baths, in Chorlton-on-Medlock, have announced a series of events on Sunday June 11, with more event days expected over the summer. Here is what you can get up to at Victoria Baths this weekend…

Artisan Summer Fair
Sunday June 11, 11am – 4pm

The Artisan Summer Fair is set to bring together local craftspeople and artists selling a wide range of goods. This is also an Open Day so there will be guided tours running and the Tea Room as well as the Gift Shop will be open. There will be also artwork on display and visitors are welcome to explore the historic building.

Treading Water
Sunday June 11, 11am – 4pm

Treading water is the second event of HOW TO SWIM, a series of six contemporary art events in different spaces across the Victoria Baths site. During the event, artists will react to the site, installing sculptures, paintings and video as well as performing live movement and spoken word pieces, holding workshops and giving talks.

In Treading Water artists look at language, words and tone of voice. On June  11, the venue will welcome three new artists Tanya Cruz, Mercedes Kemp and Jess Russell whose work will be installed in the Superintendent’s flat along with contributions from a selection of writers in the Females Pool.

Photography workshop
Sunday June 11, 10am – 1pm

The Victoria Baths Photography Workshop is led by Aidan O’Rourke, tutor, photographer and writer, who has been involved with the Baths since 1998.

On the workshop, visitors will have a unique opportunity to photograph the interior of the building. There is no formal instruction and viistors are encouraged to explore the building and take photographs at their own pace. However, there will be expert guidance from Aidan and access to parts of the building not open to the public.
