Eldapoint wins £3m contract for Liverpool2

Eldapoint, specialist provider of container solutions, has won a contract worth more than £3m to deliver a range of services to Peel Ports at Royal Seaforth Container Terminal and the newly-opened Liverpool2 deep water container terminal.

The three-year-deal, valued at more than £1m a year, will see the Merseyside-based company provide monitoring, plug in services and breakdown cover to the terminal as well as delivering a 24/7 year round monitoring and repair service for the refrigerated shipping containers.

The contract will create up to 20 new jobs at Eldapoint over the next six months, with the possibility of more staff being recruited as the work develops.

Eldapoint, which has its headquarters at Knowsley Industrial Park, says the deal sealed with the Port of Liverpool is the latest in a number of positive contract wins that are driving its growth.

Andy Blount, Eldapoint Finance Director, said: “We are already recognised as the UK’s leading provider of container solutions to blue chip clients both domestically and within the global marketplace.

“Our success in securing this contract with the Port of Liverpool after what was an extremely rigorous tender process is highly significant for our business.

“We expect to recruit up to 20 new staff to resource the contract over the coming six-month period with the possibility of further new jobs as the project develops.”

He added: “Our experience of delivering similar support to Port of Felixstowe for the last nine years will be invaluable in supporting our strategy for this prestigious contract.”

Liverpool2 is a £400m investment from Peel Ports which has created a new deep-water facility that complements the existing Royal Seaforth Container Terminal at the Port of Liverpool.

Each terminal has capacity to handle around one million containers annually. The new terminal is able to accommodate the world’s largest container vessels.

It was developed in response to changing trading patterns and shipping industry trends towards the use of ‘mega’ ocean-going container ships.

Eldapoint, which began life in 1968, is a leading manufacturer of storage and shipping containers.

It also delivers container repairs and shipping container conversions and has UK operations in Felixstowe, Southampton, Grangemouth and Tilbury.

The growing group also includes a container haulage division based in Southampton.
