Bilfinger wins £15m maintenance deal with BP Chemicals
Runcorn industrial services firm pens three-year agreement

Engineering and maintenance provider Runcorn, Cheshire-based Bilfinger Industrial Services has signed a three-year contract with BP Chemicals worth £15m, securing 90 jobs at its site.

The multi-service deal extends a previous agreement which sees the business provide a range of services, including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, scaffolding and insulation, for the BP Chemicals-owned facilities located on the 370-acre Saltend Chemicals Park, alongside the Humber estuary.

The new deal is for an initial three years, with an option to extend the contract up to 2024.

Duncan Hall, executive president of Bilfinger North West Europe, said: “The contract is strategically important to our operations in Humberside and further cements our position as a leading engineering services provider to the UK’s onshore and offshore energy industries.

“BP is a long term strategic partner for Bilfinger and we’ve supported them across their upstream and midstream assets for 10 years.

“The new extension will help us build on our close working relationship with BP, while ensuring their assets on the Saltend complex continue to drive world-class chemicals and renewable energy development at the heart of the UK’s Energy Estuary.”

The new agreement follows a recent five-year contract extension with BP to provide maintenance services at the Forties Pipeline System Terminals in Grangemouth and the Sullom Voe Terminal in Shetland, which secured 210 jobs.

Employing 4,000 people in the UK, Bilfinger is one of the world’s leading providers of integrated technical services to the process industry and the energy sector, covering the entire lifecycle of industrial plants and oil and gas facilities – from engineering to maintenance.

The business is part of German engineering and service conglomerate, Bilfinger SE group.
