Developer set to complete £24m homes scheme in Lancashire

Cumbria-based Story Homes has bought a 7.5-acre chunk of land in the Lancashire town of Clitheroe where it plans to build 130 homes to complete a development with a gross development value of £24m.

The Carlisle developer will carry out the second phase of its Pendleton Grange project.

The sale of the land by The Strategic Land Group on behalf of a private land owner unlocks the full 11-acre site, the first phase of which was acquired by Story Homes in 2015, to build 130 new homes.

Strategic Land Group completes sale for phase two of Pendleton Grange, Clitheroe.

Located off Henthorn Road in Clitheroe, Pendleton Grange phase two will be a collection of house types including apartments, terraced, semi-detached and detached properties, as well as some of the best-selling house types from the first phase.

The Strategic Land Group acted on behalf of the private land owner in the deal and secured planning permission on the site before the sale.

Paul Smith, managing director, The Strategic Land Group, said: “There is a shortage of new homes in Clitheroe and this greenfield site on the edge of the town will make a major contribution towards addressing that. We are pleased to have been able to deliver this site with planning permission to Story Homes, and have no doubt that they will deliver a high-quality development that will benefit Clitheroe.”

Story Homes’ land and planning director David O’Reilly said: “This is a significant development for Story Homes and it will deliver much needed family housing ranging in size from two to five bedroom homes.

“We’re really excited about this development. As well as boasting a high specification throughout, the homes will feature attractive exteriors adding to the charm of the area and creating the stunning street scenes for which Story Homes is renowned.

“We believe that Story Homes offer is different to that of other developers currently active in the area and we believe our product brings something new to the local area.”
