People: Deloitte makes 14 senior promotions; Trio of partners at BLM; Worsley Park Marriott…

Deloitte has made a series of senior promotions across its North West practice with three new partners and 11 directors.

The business advisory firm has announced that Olly Tebbutt (Advisory Corporate Finance), Tim Grogan (Audit and Risk Advisory) and Ed Gibson (Tax) will become partners.

Tebbutt joined Deloitte’s Advisory Corporate Finance team more than 15 years ago and has worked extensively with entrepreneurial businesses and private equity. In recent years, he has led on a number of high profile transactions including Equistone’s investment in Travel Counsellors, Palatine’s exit from Wealth at Work and acting for the shareholders of Ellis Whittam on the investment into the business by LDC.

Grogan joined the firm in 2002 and during his career has supported a number of its largest PLC and private equity backed audit clients, both regionally and internationally. His focus is on large complex PE-backed audits as well as leading the North Equity Capital Markets team, providing a range of advisory services including reporting accountant work on IPOs, equity raisings, acquisitions and disposals.

Gibson also joined Deloitte in 2002 and specialises in international tax with a particular focus on large foreign-owned businesses investing into the UK. He works extensively with international groups, including a number of Fortune 500 companies, providing business-focused advice. His key areas of specialism are business model reorganisations and cross-border acquisitions and disposals. He also leads Deloitte’s diverted profits tax practice in the UK.

The 11 directors are:Glen Frost, David Elliott and Richard Elgott (all Financial Advisory), Simon Hearne, Doug King, Saul Wadsworth and Andrew Gibson (all Audit and Risk Advisory), Kirstyn Jeffries, Greg Dalziel and Helen Rylands (all Tax) and Steven Huxley (Consulting).

Insurance and risk law specialist BLM has made three partner promotions at its Manchester office.

With the promotion of Simon Mattison, BLM has continued to invest in its Claims Solutions and Large Loss business stream, while Emma Eccles and Nicholas Gianferrari become partners in the Large Loss and Technical business stream.

Mattison has been with the firm for almost eight years, having joined in August 2009. He began his career as a trainee solicitor at DLA Piper, where he spent two years there before moving to BLM. Gianferrari joined BLM as an associate solicitor in 2012, and has over 20 years of experience in the legal sector, specialising in police investigations, PACE interviews, health and safety investigations and road traffic offences.

Eccles qualified as a solicitor at James Chapman & Co in September 2005, before joining BLM two years later. During her time at the firm, she has established expertise in catastrophic injury with specialisms in head and spinal injuries, amputations and chronic pain.

In addition, the firm also announced the promotion of a further four partners, 20 associates and two senior claims advisers across the UK.

Worsley Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club has announced a new line up for its leadership and management team.

General manager Derek Harvey has appointed Darren Mercer as the new director of golf, leisure and rooms; Barbara Cohen as multi property director of human resources; Joanne Moores in the role of hotel sales leader; Karlie Mullineux as director of food and beverage; and Jessica Crosby in a new finance manager’s role.
