The deals market in the North West is the subject of a new, quarterly podcast launched today by TheBusinessDesk.com, in association with business advisers Grant Thornton.
The inaugural episode of the ‘Dealcast’ takes a look at the region’s burgeoning private equity market.
The North West is home to 221 companies supported by private equity investors, with a combined turnover in excess of £6.2bn and employing more than 40,000 people.
It’s a sector which has seen dramatic growth over the last decade, to the point that Manchester is now home to more private equity houses than any other regional city in Europe.
Expert commentators in this episode include:
-Peter Terry, partner and head of corporate finance in the North West at Grant Thornton, who has spent his career to date specialising in midmarket M&A and private equity deals;
-Richard Young, northern director of the British Venture Capital Association (BVCA), the trade body for private equity and venture capital firms. Richard started his career with one of the original private equity houses in Manchester – 3i – and has gone on to become a vocal advocate for the sector in the region.
