A pharmacy automation company has become the first tenant in the new flagship Techspace One development at Sci-Tech Daresbury.

Established in 2012, Robotik Technology UK uses robots to automate manual packaging processes at pharmacies across the UK.

Company growth has prompted the Warrington based company to choose the new Techspace office and laboratory development at Daresbury, for its new headquarters. Robotik’s staff will occupy 950sq ft of lab space and 1,200sq ft of office space in Techspace One.

Together with its sister building Techspace Two, Techspace One provides 43,000sq ft of specialised Grade A office and laboratory space at the Sci-Tech Daresbury Enterprise Zone.

Robotik’s business goals for the next five years focus on growing its client base and making the most of the collaborative working opportunities available at Sci-Tech Daresbury.

Robotik director Andy Beesley said the combination of other technology companies and organisations like NHS Innovation based at Sci-Tech Daresbury offers the perfect fit for the business, which is seeing an increase in demand for pharmacy automation solutions.

He said: “At Robotik Technology UK, we are dedicated to simplifying medication management through innovative technology solutions. Our robots have the ability to organise drugs for patients on multiple medications, increasing accuracy and reducing the manual labour for pharmacy staff.

“The Techspace One site at Sci-Tech Daresbury is certainly a perfect match for Robotik Technology UK and the much bigger footprint that Techspace One offers will accommodate our business as we expand while the new laboratory space allows us to present our equipment in an even better way.

“The site is fantastic, it will allow us to mix and mingle with potential customers and suppliers and allow more people to see what we do.”

Sci-Tech Daresbury is a private-public joint-venture partnership between developer Langtree, the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) and Halton Borough Council.

John Downes, group managing director of Langtree and board member of the Sci-Tech Daresbury joint venture company, said: “We’re very pleased to be welcoming Robotik Technology to the Sci-Tech Daresbury campus.

“Techspace One represents the very highest standard of laboratory and workspace for companies looking to grow and will be a great fit for Robotik Technology. The campus already provides a number of collaborative working opportunities for SMEs and we’re looking forward to seeing Robotik Technology take full advantage of what the site has to offer.”

Techspace One is a three-storey, self-contained building comprising 33,000 q ft. of high quality wet and dry laboratories, grade A office accommodation, meeting hubs and break out areas, and the newest addition to the Sci-Tech Daresbury campus.

The Enterprise Zone status means that tenants will be eligible for a number of financial incentives including reduced business rates over a five-year period.
