MediaCom North profits top £6m

Manchester-based media agency MediaCom North which also has offices in Leeds and Birmingham has increased its pre-tax profits by 5% to more than £6.1m and is predicting further success thanks to its digital services.

Turnover rose 11% to nearly £23.8m for the year ended December 31, 2016 and the amount the company billed for its services went up form £210m in 2015 to £252m.

The company, part of the WPP plc empire, which acquired Manchester-based digital agency Code Computerlove for an undisclosed fee in December, employs around 250 staff and is headquartered at Hardman Street in Spinningfields.

The company paid out £11m in wages, social security costs and other pensions costs in 2016, while its directors emoluments and company pension contributions amounted to a total of £892,000. The highest paid director got £185,000.

A report from director Christopher Broadbent presented an upbeat forecast for the rest of the year.

He said: “2017 is expected to show continued growth in turnover and profit across all offices (Leeds, Birmingham and Manchester) particularly in the digital division.”
