Civic Engineers expands business with acquisition of Scottish studio

Manchester-based civil and structural engineering practice Civic Engineers has announced further expansion of its business taking on the Glasgow arm of consulting engineers Structa.

The move will see the 11-strong Structa Glasgow team become part of Civic Engineers, taking headcount to 78, and will give the rapidly expanding practice its fourth studio and a permanent Scottish base.

This will enable the business to build on the projects already undertaken in Scotland, develop local engineering talent and further strengthen its market presence across the UK.

Projects the Glasgow team will work on include Edenmill Distillery & Brewery in Guardbridge, St Andrews and the Sentinel Building refurbishment in Glasgow city centre.

This expansion follows a successful 12 months for Civic Engineers which saw the opening of a Leeds studio, a significant increase in turnover to £3.4mi, being ranked in the New Civil Engineer Top 100 companies, and headcount more than double.

Completed projects have included redevelopment of Cohen Quad, Exeter College, Oxford, No 1 Cambridge St, Manchester, and public realm work in Altrincham and London.
