Bean signs up at revamped 20 Chapel Street
Independent North West coffee operator Bean is set to launch a new outlet at Liverpool’s iconic office development 20 Chapel Street.
The popular coffee retailer has exchanged contracts with Canmoor to take 1,300sq ft on the ground floor of the building in the heart of the city’s commercial district.
The addition of the new café space comes as part of the £3m refurbishment project at 20 Chapel Street, which has seen the building entrance reconfigured and extended to create space for the cafe within the reception area.
Bean has outlets across Liverpool and Greater Manchester and was the official coffee supplier for the Liverpool stand at MIPIM 2017.
Director and co-founder of Bean, Jon Whyte, said: “We’re really looking forward to opening our latest venture in one of the most distinctive buildings in Liverpool’s business district and giving tenants a completely new space where they can take a break from the office or hold an informal meeting.
“We’ve already had positive feedback from current tenants at 20 Chapel Street who are excited to see Bean opening in their building.
“The new café will follow a similar industrial design to our outlets in Exchange Station and St Paul’s Square serving hot and cold drinks, fresh lunches and snacks.”
Once open, Bean will cater to tenants of the building, as well as passing visitors looking for an informal meeting space who will be able to access the café via Rumford Place.
Sam Walker, director at Canmoor, which purchased the freehold of 20 Chapel Street in June last year, said: “Bean is a firm favourite in Liverpool and we’re delighted to have them onboard at 20 Chapel Street.
“The addition of a café operator was an important part of our refurbishment plans to give tenants a new amenity and create more of a community within the building. The cafe fit out is now starting to take shape and we’re looking forward to breathing new life in to the building.”
Bean is expected to open next month (September).
Worthington Owen acted for Canmoor on the deal, and they have recently been joined by CBRE as joint agents on the remaining 25,000sq ft of refurbished offices.
