Fintech firm to smooth cash flow at iconic motoring organisation

Deal done

Manchester fintech company AccessPay has been appointed by motoring organisation the AA to help deliver payments made to and from the business.

With its growing membership and extensive portfolio, the £1bn turnover organisation now has 17 businesses under its iconic yellow brand.

And to manage the vast number of transactions that contribute towards that number, the AA required an extensive solution to manage the electronic payments sent and received within the organisation.
AccessPay will deliver a BACs direct credit and direct debit solution to The AA.

Its software will sit between The AA and their bank, and supported with a range of cash visibility and cash management products, from paying employee salaries, through to collection of members’ regular and occasional direct debit instructions, will enable a simple online solution for processing any number of business payments, quickly and securely.

Established in 1905, The AA has grown from an organisation founded by four motoring enthusiasts to one of the UK’s most iconic brands, now with over 13 million roadside business and personal members.

From setting up its first motorbike patrols to piloting connected car systems, The AA has a unique history of embracing new technology and innovations. And though perhaps best known for its yellow vans and recovery service, the business has now branched out into finance, insurance, leisure and lifestyle services.

The business is working with AccessPay, a specialist in cloud-based payments technology, that has claims to have championed the evolution of payments and finance since its establishment five years ago.

Lewis Jones, head of treasury at the AA, said: “The AA has built its reputation on the service that it provides to its members and it is crucial we maintain that. It is therefore essential we work with a partner that can provide resilience but also flexibility and is agile enough to support the huge number of transactions undertaken in a company of our size.

“Customers across our brands have a requirement to pay by direct debit, so we needed total confidence in the organisation we chose to work with for our payments solution.

“It is crucial we do things properly and accurately – maintaining a high level of trust with our members, and having the ability to respond quickly and directly, providing the best possible service.”
