Medlock lands deal to fit out new Hickory’s restaurant

Construction and fit-out specialist Medlock FRB has been awarded the contract for a new Hickory’s Smokehouse restaurant in Southport as the Southern-style family dining group continues its expansion.
The project is Medlock’s second for Hickory’s following the rebuilding of the venue at Wall Heath, near Dudley in the West Midlands, which suffered severe fire damage in 2016.
Hickory’s specialises in food from the Southern states of the US, such as slow-cooked chicken wings and smoked BBQ beef ribs.
It currently has six other sites across the country, including ones in the North West at Chester and West Kirby.
The Southport restaurant is expected to open before Christmas and create more than 60 jobs.
It is being developed on the site of a former pub on Folkestone Road. Medlock is refurbishing the building internally and externally and is extending it to create a venue with over 100 covers.
Amenities will include a children’s cinema room and play area, a covered veranda and outdoor seating, along with an open fire-pit and a large bar area.
Dan Lewis, project director at Medlock, said: “We’re delighted to be delivering a second Hickory’s Smokehouse restaurant and bar, which builds on the relationship we developed through our first project at Wall Heath.
“We have a strong track record in the successful delivery of restaurant and bar projects and look forward to achieving outstanding standards of work again to help the Hickory’s Smokehouse brand continue its UK-wide roll-out.”
