Major university contract for office supplier

Macclesfield-based Broadstock Office Furniture has won a major contract to furnish the University of York’s new Piazza Learning Centre.

With a well-established portfolio of university clients, the company won a competitive tender, winning all six lots worth £530,000.

Broadstock sales director, Jon Stoney, said: “Broadstock has a strong reputation in the education sector and this win reiterates that. Our quality of service and expertise, in addition to our manufacturing facility affords our clients greater choice and better lead times – this undoubtedly helped us in securing this business.”

The Piazza Learning Centre will be the administrative and teaching home for the new International Pathway College and will include a 350 seat restaurant, more than 30 flexible learning spaces and a large flat-floor space available for student activities and societies. There will also be a large informal learning resource centre.

Stoney added: “We’re looking forward to working with the University of York on this exciting new project. The university is looking for a contemporary style with flexible use of space and the design team interpreted this impressively, matching the university’s vision and criteria.”

The job is due to complete in December.
