People on the move: Black Cat; Davis Blank Furniss; Sedulo

Black Cat, the Manchester building consultancy practice established in October, 2015, has announced further expansion of its niche building surveying and project management team.

Marek Baldwin has joined the practice as an associate director. He was previously at Workman.

Baldwin’s appointment increases the size of Black Cat’s professional team to nine.

Although based in Manchester, Black Cat has a nationwide remit acting on behalf of a diverse client base from major UK institutions, developers and property companies to smaller private investors.

Stephen Barnes, one of the founding directors of Black Cat along with Ben Golby and James Dyson, said: “We’re excited that Marek has joined us. He’s a very talented surveyor with a huge amount of experience and he joins us as a number of exciting projects are being delivered throughout the UK.”

Law firm Davis Blank Furniss has appointed Matthew Handley as an assistant solicitor in its family team.

Handley will be based at the firm’s headquarters in Manchester, but will also handle cases out of its Glossop office.

His new role will see him acting on behalf of clients seeking advice and assistance in relation to family matters including divorce, civil partnership dissolution, nullity, financial proceedings and children proceedings. He will be working closely with Caroline Bilous – senior solicitor in the family team.

Handley is five years’ qualified and has joined Davis Blank Furniss from Tedstone, George & Tedstone Solicitors in Staffordshire. He studied for his law degree at Keele University and his legal practice course at the University of Law.

Caroline Bilous said: “We are pleased that Matthew has joined Davis Blank Furniss and we are looking forward to him becoming an integral part of the team.”

Handley added: “I’m really excited about my new role. It’s an exciting time for the firm and my focus is now on helping to grow the family team’s work across the North West.”

New senior management accountant Aleks Sadiku has joined Sedulo accounts team in Manchester.

He will be responsible for on boarding new clients.

As well as being fully ACCA qualified, Sadiku is currently studying an economics and maths masters alongside his full time role at Sedulo.
