Bespoke office interiors firm the Penketh Group, which has offices in Wirral and Manchester, has acquired a North West photocopier and office supplies business as part of its ambitious growth plans.

The company has bought Wirral-based Currie Business Services and added its six employees to its 80-strong team.

Penketh Group has its own head office in Wirral along with its Manchester-based Worklife Showroom.

The latest acquisition coincides with another successful year for Penketh Group with revenues rising to £12.5m, up from last year’s £11.3m.

Currie Business Services was founded in 1991 by brothers Brian and David Currie with customers across Merseyside, Cheshire and North Wales.

The company’s photocopier business will continue to trade under the Currie name with other services including office supplies and furniture transferring to Penketh Group.

Mark Penketh, managing director of Penketh Group, said: “Our two businesses have a very similar ethos and were a natural fit when the opportunity came along to acquire Currie.

“We had an existing photocopier division in our business but Currie’s moves us to another level, particularly in terms of engineering excellence.

“This is the latest strategic acquisition for Penketh Group following our purchase of Manchester Office Supplies earlier this year.”

Penketh said the company is now aiming for tuenover of £20m by 2020.

“We have made significant progress in the last 12 months and have further plans to accelerate our growth plan over the coming months,” he said.

Brian Currie said: “We are pleased to pass the reins of our company on to Penketh Group, a business that started out like ourselves as a family business and which shares common values and goals.”
