Private equity firm NorthEdge Capital has made two senior hires from Deloitte and the Co-op as it makes its moved to new headquarters at No.1 Spinningfields.

NorthEdge has taken just over 5,500 sq ft on the 13th floor at the office block in Manchester’s commercial district, having previously occupied around 3,000 sq ft at Vantage Point.

It says the move is set to facilitate the further growth of NorthEdge’s Northern operation, which begins with two new appointments to its investment and portfolio teams.

John Breheny joins NorthEdge as a director. Previously he was at Deloitte where he worked for 13 years, including the past 10 years in the Manchester corporate finance team, leading a range of local, national and international private equity transactions.

At NorthEdge, Breheny will work alongside partner and head of North West Jon Pickering to source and transact new investments from the Manchester office.

Meanwhile, Jordana Cropper joins as portfolio manager to support head of portfolio Ian Plumb and portfolio director Ben Wildsmith who work on NorthEdge’s existing investment companies. Cropper has significant experience managing major restructuring projects at EY and internal IT and infrastructure investments at The Co-operative Group.

These appointments increase the headcount to 30, including 22 investment specialists based in Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham.

NorthEdge has completed 23 investments and eight exits across its three offices since February 2013.

Grant Berry, managing partner at NorthEdge Capital, said: “This move marks the next chapter in NorthEdge’s expansion and is a culmination of strong growth at the firm and an ambition to build on that further. We have expanded our portfolio across additional regions and sectors in recent years, and we will continue to make new appointments to our team to support our existing portfolio and new business ambitions from this new landmark development in the heart of Manchester.

“We are pleased to also reaffirm our commitment to the regional economies with the appointments of John and Jordana, who offer the expertise and experience we need to expand our reach to more talented management teams and provide the best possible service to our existing portfolio.”

OBI Property acted on behalf of NorthEdge on the move to No1. Spinningfields and provided the interior design and project management to complete the office fit-out.
