Eight NW Prezzo restaurants to get the chop

Italian restaurant chain Prezzo is close eight of its restaurants in the North West.

The group, which includes the TexMex chain Chimichanga, is axing a total of 94 out of its 300 eateries across the UK.

The company has undergone a compulsory voluntary arrangement (CVA) as it seeks to restructure after beginning the latest in a series of high profile restaurant chains to put up the red flag.

Jamie Oliver’s Barbecoa chain has into administration recently with the loss of 80 jobs and the famous chef restaurant entrepreneur had to inject £3m of his own money into his Jamie’s Italian chain in December. He is now planning to close 12 out of 37 UK branches, while last month creditors agreed a rescue plan for Byron.

The North West Prezzo restaurants facing the chop are in Blackpool, Carlisle, Chester (Chimichanga), Manchester (Deansgate), New Brighton, Poulton, St Annes, near Blackpool, Poulton and Warrington.
