Two hotels in NW among four sold in wake of Carillion demise

Ibis hotels in Crewe and Haydock are among four sold on behalf collapsed construction giant Carillion for an undisclosed sum from a guide price of £30m.

The 112-room Crewe facility and the Merseyside hotel which has 102 rooms have been bought be Starboard Hotels alongside others in Barnsley (117 rooms) and Birmingham NEC (166 rooms).

Independent operator Starboard now has a portfolio of 19 hotels boasting a total of 2,000 bedrooms operating under brands like AccorHotel, InterContinental Hotels Group and Wyndham. It also has the Windermere Manor hotel in the Lake District.

Senior debt for the acquisition was provided by Bank Leumi.

“The four hotels fit perfectly within our portfolio and represent a significant investment for our business. Individually, the hotels are in excellent geographic locations and further increase our presence in the UK hotel sector across the country.”
