BAE to supply Saudi Arabia with 48 Typhoon Aircraft in £10bn deal

BAE Systems is to supply 48 Typhoon Aircraft to Saudi Arabia in a £10bn deal which will safeguard up to 5,000 jobs in Lancashire.

The UK Governments has signed a Memorandum of Intent with the Saudi Government with the intention of finalising discussions on the deal.

Charles Woodburn, BAE Systems chief executive, said: “The news is a positive step towards agreeing a contract for our valued partner, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. We are committed to supporting the Kingdom as it modernises the Saudi Armed Forces and develops key industrial capabilities.”

The fighter jet is a assembled at BAE’s site in Salmesbury, near Preston.
