New boss to head up Manchester office of law firm

Ros Bever, Irwin Mitchell

Family law expert Ros Bever is to take over as the new head of the Irwin Mitchell office in Manchester.

Ros, who is also national head of family law at the national law firm, will take over from Roy Beckett who has stepped down and will focus on leading the real estate team in Manchester.

The appointment will be from May 1st and will see Ros lead a team of over 260 staff working across the firm’s personal injury, private wealth and business legal services divisions.

Over the last couple of years, Ros has built a strong reputation for taking on innovative high-value complex family law cases including a double victory in the Supreme Court in the Sharland and Gohil cases on non-disclosure.

She was recently awarded bronze for ‘Inspirational Woman of the Year’ at the Citywealth Powerwomen Awards.

This follows her recent inclusion on their ‘Powerwomen Top 50’ list, which includes women from the legal and financial sectors.

She was one of only four lawyers named outside of London and the only woman from Manchester to make the list.

Andrew Tucker, group chief executive at Irwin Mitchell, said: “Ros’s promotion recognises the contribution she has made to the Manchester office, most recently in her role as partner and head of the Manchester Family Law team.

“I know she will bring huge energy and enthusiasm to the role, complementing her significant experience of the industry as a partner at Irwin Mitchell.

“I’d like to thank Roy Beckett for his significant contribution to the business during his time serving as regional managing partner. He will continue to play a crucial role in our business legal services division and will be focussing on leading our real estate team across the North West.”

Ros said: “I am thrilled and extremely proud to be appointed as regional managing partner in Manchester and I’m excited to be building on the excellent work of my predecessors, Roy Beckett and Grahame Codd.

“We have and will continue to invest in our Manchester office and I’m looking forward to working closely with everyone to capitalise on the opportunities we have as a truly integrated, full-service offering in the North West.”

Last month, Irwin Mitchell announced it is to move in June from its current base at Bauhaus on Quay Street to One St Peter’s Square.
