Apartments approved for Salford brownfield site

Planning permission has been approved for 57 apartments on a derelict brownfield site by Salford’s Planning Committee.
The site of the former Griffin Hotel has remained vacant for a number of years, despite a previous approval for an apartment scheme.
The latest approval will deliver much needed high quality accommodation in the local area and will provide one and two bedroom properties.
Hayley Knight, associate at Liverpool-based Satplan, who worked in conjunction with Abacus Solicitors on behalf of joint client Great Cheetham Developments, said: “The latest planning approval provides the basis for a deliverable residential scheme.
“In order to get planning permission we worked with Salford Council to deal with significant flooding issues whilst achieving an attractive residential scheme.
“The proposals, designed by Project 3, will significantly improve the amenity for local residents and businesses, in addition to providing much needed housing in this location”.
Ms Knight added that Satplan, which provides town planning advice, is currently acting for a number of clients concerning city centre apartment schemes across the north west.
