Casting sessions are being held to recruit staff for Manchester’s latest restaurant

The Radisson Blu in Manchester

Manchester’s latest addition to the bar and restaurant scene has come up with a novel way to recruit staff.

The new restaurant at the Radisson Blu Edwardian hotel on Peter Street is looking to take on 60 new workers.

And the owners Edwardian Hotels London will be holding casting sessions to find suitable workers.

The hotel is one of three five-star hotels in the city centre and is launching a concept in the autumn which has proved to be a big hit in London.

The London Kitchen concept is based around shared dining and customers at Peter Street Kitchen will choose from a selection of small dishes inspired by Mexican and Japanese food.

The new restaurant and bar opens this October and is set to be one of the most popular in the city.

Amir Jati, service excellence director of Edwardian Hotels London, is heading up the recruitment drive.
Mr Jati has worked Nobu, which is co-owned by Robert De Niro and the Savoy Hotel.

He said: “I did not want to recruit through the normal channels. So instead, we decided to hold one of two aptly named “casting” days, on 19th June and 16th July, at Radisson Blu Edwardian, Manchester.

“From this, we will choose between 80 and 90 of the most impressive candidates and send them on a seven-week training programme that will be divided between London and Manchester.”

He added: “The Kitchen concept has proved enormously successful in London, with Leicester Square Kitchen recently voted one of the top restaurants for both Peruvian and Mexican cuisine in the capital.

“We know that Manchester is going to embrace it too, but we need to make sure that the ambience, style and service is on a par with Mayfair, Leicester Square and Monmouth Kitchens.

“Crucial to this will be the staff, and this initiative will ensure we find the very best.”
