Manchester’s property boom showing no sign of slowing down any time soon

Manchester property explosion

There is no sign of the property boom in Manchester coming to an end any time soon with another 2,000 city centre flats set to be approved.

A series of major schemes are set to go before planners this week including a new 51-storey skyscraper.

Plans to redevelop the former Boddingtons Brewery Site in Strangeways are also due to be approved by councillors.

Meanwhile, Gary Neville’s £200m St Michael’s scheme in the city centre has also been granted approval.

Hundreds of new flats could be built on the former brewery site in Strangeways which has been used as a car park for the last ten years.

The scheme is being backed by private equity group Prosperity Capital Partners.

The plan is to build four blocks of up to 28 storeys, containing 556 apartments, in a scheme which will be called Old Brewery Gardens.

Two new blocks of flats are also set to be built at the bottom of Princess Parkway.

The scheme on the edge of Hulme and the city centre would see a 51-storey tower built alongside a 21-storey block.

The two blocks on the corner of Chester Road and the Mancunian Way would include 664 new flats.
Both schemes are to go before planners on Thursday and are being recommended for approval.

Property firm Peel is also planning to build new flats and a hotel near the tram stop in Cornbrook.
