Fellside, the new residential development by Chipping Homes, officially started on site today, June 9, at desirable Lancashire village, Chipping, in the Ribble Valley, forming part of the £19m Kirk Mill redevelopment scheme.

Following a competitive tender process Harry Fairclough Construction has been appointed to bring forward 39 three, four and five-bedroom homes, to be built with natural stone, render and buff brick, with slate and tile roofs.

The show home, the four-bedroom ‘Finstock’, will be available to view in Spring 2019, with the first homes ready to move into soon after.

The family homes will be available in a range of Chipping Homes styles including the Finstock, Charlbury, Kingham, Spelsbury and the five-bedroom Stonesfield.

The homes are being marketed by estate agents, Dewhurst Homes, ranging in price from £260,000 to £500,000.

All homes are being built to superior quality specification and environmental standards.

The properties will be built with the modern family in mind, including open plan ground floor space leading out through double patio doors to landscaped gardens.

All home styles include a bedroom with ensuite.

Speaking at the official sod cutting ceremony held at the site today, Chipping Homes director Ken Whitaker said: “Careful consideration has been taken to design Fellside to complement its beautiful, natural surroundings and heritage.

“Harry Fairclough’s proven track record on significant projects in the North of England has demonstrated their commitment to community engagement as well as empathetic building, to ensure our development is built to top quality for our prospective homeowners.”

Martin Budden, chairman of Warrington-based Harry Fairclough Construction, added: “We are looking forward to continuing to work in partnership with Chipping Homes on this exciting development and for our site -team to be embedded in the local community.

“A lot of planning, hard-work and dedication has gone in to getting to this stage to ensure that the end result is a high-quality future fit living environment.”

Fellside forms part of the £19m Kirk Mill masterplan at Chipping, which received outline planning in 2016 to convert the 18th century Arkwright-style mill into a spa hotel, restaurant and other village amenities.

Phase one has seen the restoration works of the Grade II-listed mill undertaken, with full re-roofing, major structural improvements and sympathetic cleaning and re-pointing of all elevations completed.

Phase two involved the creation of an ECB-approved cricket pitch, pavilion and car park, which opened at the start of the season in summer 2017 and is the new home of Chipping Cricket Club as well as being available to both local primary schools and other local educational establishments.

Sitting adjacent to the village centre, the new homes will be linked to the village via an existing footpath and road network.

The site also has immediate access to the countryside, and is one of very few new housing schemes that have been allowed within Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
